Itinerary

Day 1Nairobi-Aberdares

Pick up from your Nairobi hotel or airport in the morning and depart for Aberdares, a four-hour drive with a short en-route game drive upon arrival at The Ark Hotel in Nyeri. After lunch, you will be transferred to The Ark Lodge, which features four viewing decks with balconies and lounges for superb game viewing from the comfort of the lodge. The animals come to you! Later, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at The Ark Hotel.

Day 2Aberdares –Equator - Samburu

After an early breakfast at your lodge, leave Aberdares and embark on a four-hour drive to Samburu. En route, stop at the Equator line in Nanyuki town near Mt. Kenya, a great spot to understand the Coriolis Effect as part of our Physics course back in school. Continue to Samburu, arriving with a short game drive before proceeding to Ashnil Samburu Camp for lunch and check-in. Relax, and later enjoy an afternoon game drive across the park, home to unique resident wildlife species like the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, and the blue-legged Somali Ostrich. Dinner and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp.

Day 3Samburu (2) Two game drives

Begin the day with an early morning game drive, then return to camp for breakfast. Afterward, enjoy two game drives, weather permitting, in the Samburu Reserve, a unique wildlife conservation haven renowned for its abundance of rare species such as the Grevy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, and Reticulated Giraffe. Later, enjoy meals and an overnight stay at Ashnil Samburu Camp.

Day 4Samburu – Sweet Water

After an early morning breakfast and a game drive en route, leave Samburu for Sweetwaters, a three-hour drive. Arrive in time for a game drive, followed by lunch and check-in at Sweetwaters Luxury Tented Camp. Sweetwaters is the only sanctuary in Kenya dedicated to the rehabilitation of abused chimpanzees, housing two groups in an environment that closely resembles their natural habitat. The site is also a dedicated black rhino breeding area. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive across the park, then return for dinner and an overnight stay at Sweetwaters Luxury Tented Camp.

Day 5 Sweet Water – Lake Nakuru

After an energizing breakfast, depart from your Samburu camp and commence on a scenic 5-hour journey towards Lake Nakuru National Park. En route, you’ll have the opportunity to marvel at the breathtaking beauty of Thomson’s Falls, discovered by Scottish explorer Joseph Thomson in 1883, reaching an impressive height of 7,800 feet above sea level. Arrive at Lake Nakuru in time for lunch and settle into your comfortable accommodation at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge (or similar). In the afternoon, set out on a game drive across the mesmerizing “Pink Lake,” named for the abundant flocks of flamingos that adorn its shores (seasonal variations may occur). Keep a keen eye out for the critically endangered white and black rhinos, alongside a diverse array of other wildlife that inhabit this park. Return to your lodge for dinner and enjoy a peaceful overnight stay.

Day 6Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara

After an early morning breakfast, depart from Lake Nakuru for Masai Mara, a scenic 5-hour drive that takes you through Narok town, renowned as a prominent Masai settlement. Arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch and check-in at your chosen accommodation, such as Ashnil Mara Camp, Sarova Mara Game Camp, or Mara Serena Safari Lodge. Enjoy a delicious lunch before embarking on an afternoon game drive through the park, seeking out iconic wildlife species including the Lion, Cheetah, Elephant, and Buffalo. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and spend the night at Ashnil Mara Camp, Sarova Mara Game Camp, or Mara Serena Safari Lodge.

Day 7Maasai Mara National Reserve

Begin the day with an early morning game drive, then return to camp for breakfast. After breakfast, spend the full day in the park with a packed lunch, searching for its renowned residents such as the predators and their prey like Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Hippo, and the formidable Crocodiles, including a visit to the Mara River. Meals and overnight accommodation will be at Ashnil Mara Camp, Sarova Mara Game Camp, or Mara Serena Safari Lodge.

Day 8Masai Mara – Nairobi

Enjoy an early morning breakfast at your camp or lodge before checking out and departing from the camp and the park. Embark on a scenic 5-hour drive to Nairobi, arriving in time for lunch. Indulge in a delicious meal at Carnivore before being dropped off at your respective hotel or the airport around 4 pm.
