Full Day Tour: Nairobi National Park – David Sheldrick – Giraffe Centre – Karen Blixen
Pick up from your hotel in Nairobi early the morning at 06:15 hrs. Depart for Nairobi National Park. This unique wildlife sanctuary is just a few kilometres from Nairobi’s bustling city centre, but despite its proximity, different species of mammals can be found there, including four of the Big Five like Lions, Rhino, Leopard and Buffalos. Of the big five, only the elephant is absent. At around 10:30am you will check out of the park and drive to David Sheldrack baby elephant to see baby elephant feeding time. Later you will drive to Mamba Village for lunch.
After lunch drive towards Giraffe Centre to see and feed the famous Rothschild Giraffe and her family. This centre, which protects the highly endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, combines serious conservation with enjoyable activities. You can observe, hand-feed or even kiss one of the giraffes from a raised wooden structure, which is quite an experience. You may also spot warthogs snuffling about in the mud, Later you proceed to Karen Blixen Museum which was once the centre piece of a farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills owned by Danish Author Karen and her Swedish Husband, Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke. The farm house gained international fame with the release of the movie ‘Out of Africa’ an Oscar-winning film based on Karen’s an autobiography by the same title. Later in the evening drive to back to your respective hotels at around 17:00hrs – 18:00hrs.
