In the morning, you’ll be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport and embark on a 4-hour drive to Sweetwaters. Along the way, you’ll stop at the Equator line in Nanyuki town near Mt. Kenya, a perfect spot to learn about the Coriolis Effect, a concept from your school physics course. You’ll arrive at Sweetwaters Luxury Tented Camp, specifically the Morani Wing Tent, just in time for lunch and check-in. Sweetwaters is the only sanctuary in Kenya dedicated to rehabilitating abused chimpanzees, housing two groups in a setting that closely mimics their natural habitat. Additionally, it’s a dedicated breeding area for black rhinos. After lunch, you’ll enjoy an afternoon game drive across the park before returning for dinner and an overnight stay at the Morani Wing Tent.
Begin your day with an early morning game drive from 6:15 am to 8:45 am, then return to Sweetwaters Serena Camp for breakfast and some rest. In the afternoon, embark on another game drive in one of Kenya’s most renowned conservancies, home to the ‘Big Five’—elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, and leopard. After breakfast, check out of your Samburu camp and set off on a scenic 5-hour journey to Lake Nakuru National Park. Along the way, stop to admire Thomson’s Falls, discovered by Scottish explorer Joseph Thomson in 1883, which stands at an impressive height of 7,800 feet above sea level. Arrive at Lake Nakuru in time for lunch and check into The Cliff Luxury Camp. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive around the “Pink Lake,” named for its seasonal flocks of flamingos, and look for the critically endangered white and black rhinos, along with other diverse wildlife. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, depart Lake Nakuru for a 5-hour drive to Masai Mara, passing through the famous Masai town of Narok. Arrive in time for lunch and check in at Entim Luxury Camp or Ilkeliani Luxury Camp. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive through the park in search of lions, cheetahs, elephants, and buffalo. Return for dinner and an overnight stay at Entim Luxury Camp or Ilkeliani Luxury Camp.
