Itinerary

Day 1Rwenzori Mountains

At Trekkers Hostel Kilembe, located at the base camp at an altitude of 1450 meters, receive a briefing from the guides before commencing the trek. Begin the ascent towards Sine Camp, situated at an elevation of 2596 meters, with a total height gain of 1146 meters.

Day 2Rwenzori Mountains

Embark on a hike to Mutinda Camp, situated at an altitude of 3588 meters, providing a height gain of 992 meters. In the afternoon, while at Mutinda, you may choose to ascend Mutinda Lookout at 3975 meters. Not only does this offer stunning panoramic views, but it also aids in acclimatization, particularly beneficial for those continuing to ascend higher peaks.

Day 3Rwenzori Mountains

Trek to Bugata Camp at an elevation of 4062 meters, experiencing a height gain of 474 meters. Along the way, traverse through a valley adorned with incredibly unique and beautiful plant species, streams, and waterfalls. As we progress towards Bugata Camp, the trek becomes more challenging and strenuous, with steep ridges, muddy and boggy sections, and high steps. However, the rewards are immense, offering breathtakingly beautiful scenery amidst the hardships of the journey.

Day 4Rwenzori Mountains

Trek to Hunwicks Camp at an elevation of 3974 meters, passing through Bamwanjara Pass at 4450 meters. Along the journey, enjoy excellent views of the main peaks.

Day 5Rwenzori Mountains

Embark on a hike to Margherita Camp at an altitude of 4485 meters, descending and crossing the valley floor to reach the stunning Lake Kitandara, adorned with deep water and lush vegetation. Proceed by climbing through Scoot Elliot Pass to reach Margherita Camp.

Day 6Rwenzori Mountains

Rise at 2:00 am and enjoy an early breakfast before embarking on the ascent of Mt. Stanley, traversing its glaciers to reach the summit of Margherita Peak at 5109 meters. Following the summit achievement, descend to Hunwicks Camp at 3974 meters for an overnight stay. This will be the longest day of the expedition.

Day 7Rwenzori Mountains

Descend to Kiharo Camp at an elevation of 3640 meters via Oliver’s Pass. Spend the night at Kiharo Camp, nestled in a deep valley surrounded by towering cliffs and lush vegetation.

Day 8Kilembe transfer to Kampala

Descend downhill, passing moss-covered rocks, rivers, and picturesque forests, until you reach the base camp in Kilembe. Once there, take some time to debrief and refresh.
