Departing early morning from your Nairobi hotel or airport, embark on a scenic 3-hour drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, witnessing the Great Rift Valley escarpment and Lake Naivasha (optional boat ride and walking safari extra cost). Enjoy a brief game drive upon arrival, check in to Sarova Lion Hill Lodge (or similar) for lunch, and then venture out on an afternoon game drive across the vast plains. Embark on game drives throughout the day, venturing across the vast Masai Mara plains. During the migration season (early July to end of September), witness the awe-inspiring spectacle of wildebeest thundering across the landscape. Keep your eyes peeled for a variety of other inhabitants, including zebras, impalas, topis, giraffes, Thomson’s gazelles, predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, and jackals, and even elusive black rhinos. The Mara River teems with life, offering sightings of hippos and Nile crocodiles. Consider joining a guided walk with a ranger for an enhanced exploration near the river (tip recommended).
